Low-Flying Planes Conduct Mosquito Spraying in Pasco County After Hurricane Milton

In the wake of Hurricane Milton, Pasco County, including the Wesley Chapel area, is experiencing a significant surge in mosquito populations due to widespread flooding. To combat this issue, local officials, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, has scheduled aerial mosquito spraying across the county. The operations will occur from dusk until dawn, approximately 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., to minimize exposure while most residents are indoors.

Residents Concerned About Low-Flying Aircraft

 

Many Wesley Chapel residents have reported concerns about low-flying aircraft operating in the middle of the night. Unlike the familiar orange mosquito control helicopters, these planes are flying as low as a few hundred feet above the ground to effectively apply insecticides. The unusual sight and sound of these low-altitude flights have prompted questions and unease among community members.
