Fatal Crash Causes Major Delays on I-75 in Wesley Chapel

WESLEY CHAPEL – A fatal accident involving two vehicles occurred Sunday evening, May 18, 2025, on northbound Interstate 75 near the Overpass Road exit in Wesley Chapel, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Just before 8:00 p.m., a vehicle reportedly traveling recklessly collided with another car before striking a pole and catching fire. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the crash resulted in at least one fatality. Troopers remain on-site conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Due to the crash, all but one northbound lane of I-75 remain closed, causing significant traffic delays. Authorities anticipate the closures and traffic impacts to persist for several hours. Drivers are strongly advised to seek alternate routes for I75 between State Road 54 and State Road 52 while the investigation continues.
