March 23, 20262 min read

A serious crash involving a golf cart and a passenger vehicle left multiple people hurt Saturday, March 14, 2026 in the evening in Wesley Chapel, according to information released through a review of public records.

The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. on March 14 along Elam Road. Investigators reported that a 43-year-old Wesley Chapel man was driving a golf cart eastbound in a marked golf cart lane when the collision occurred.

According to authorities, a 17-year-old Wesley Chapel girl was driving a Honda Accord eastbound behind the golf cart. Just west of Callow Ford Drive, the golf cart driver attempted to make a U-turn and entered the path of the approaching car.

The Honda then struck the golf cart, causing it to overturn. All eight people riding on the golf cart were thrown from it during the crash, authorities said.

Records indicate the golf cart was carrying the driver, his wife, their five children, and a 16-year-old neighbor at the time of the collision. The Honda then left the roadway and came to a stop partially in a nearby pond along the shoulder.

The 17-year-old driver of the Honda and a 17-year-old passenger in the car were not hurt. Officials have not yet released the extent of the injuries suffered by those on the golf cart.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
