Whataburger planned for former Aussie Grill site in Wesley Chapel area

A new Whataburger restaurant is in the works for the Wesley Chapel area, with plans tied to the vacant building that previously operated as Aussie Grill. A review of Pasco County permitting activity and recent local reporting indicates the project involves renovating the existing structure at 25340 Sierra Center Boulevard, near the State Road 54 and Wesley Chapel Boulevard corridor.

The site sits close to major retail and dining destinations and is near Tampa Premium Outlets, making it a high-traffic location for a new quick-service restaurant. Reports indicate the work is a renovation of the former restaurant building rather than a full teardown and rebuild.

The building previously housed Aussie Grill, which opened as a free-standing concept location in the area and later closed, with online business listings reflecting that the restaurant is no longer operating there.

Project details reported locally describe a roughly 2,800-square-foot renovation with an estimated construction value around $1.3 million, with a general contractor identified for the work and early site activity observed. Based on that reporting, the location has been discussed as potentially opening in 2026, although no official opening date has been posted publicly.

As construction moves forward, we will keep tracking filings and visible progress at the site. For more Wesley Chapel-area development updates, visit WesleyChapelCommunity.com and follow along on FacebookX, and Instagram.
