A 62-year-old Wesley Chapel man died early June 6 when his 2006 Nissan Titan ran off Interstate 75 and crashed into a tree according to the Florida Highway Patrol says.

Michael Lynn French was heading north on I-75 in Sumter County around 6:55 a.m. Thursday when “for unknown reasons” he lost control of his truck, wrote Sgt. Steve Gaskin.

The truck “rotated off the outside shoulder and collided with a tree,” Gaskins added.

French, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. According to FHP It is unclear at this time if alcohol played a factor in the crash. Toxicology reports are pending.
