Thousands of Attendees Create a Mess around Wesley Chapel Air Festival

According to posts on social media and first-hand accounts, thousands of people who traveled as long as three hours to get to the Wesley Chapel Festival of Flight were locked in gridlocked traffic only to be turned away at the gate. Traffic on State Road 56, State Road 54, and many surrounding intersections were moving at a near standstill for hours.

54,000 people sent facebook RSVP’s. This chaos created lines as long as three hours to exit the event and dangerous traffic conditions all around leaving many furious.

After angry attendees reported being turned away the event’s Facebook Page responded with the following release offering little help: “PARKING LOTS FULL. NO MORE ROOM SORRY” (https://www.facebook.com/festivalofflight). Commenters fired back with angry responses, many recommending that people avoid the event altogether.
