SummerSharp Aims to Keep Wesley Chapel K–5 Kids Sharp Over the Summer
A new Florida-built learning app, SummerSharp, gives K–5 students adaptive practice in math, reading, and science built around the state’s B.E.S.T. standards.
As Wesley Chapel families settle into summer break, a new Florida-built app is offering a structured, low-pressure way to keep young learners practicing math, reading, and science before the next school year begins.
SummerSharp is a subscription learning app designed for Florida students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Its practice questions in math, reading, and science are tagged to the Florida B.E.S.T. standards, the same benchmarks used in local classrooms across Pasco County and the rest of the state.
How it works
The app is built around short, daily practice sessions rather than long study blocks. According to the company, the questions adapt to each child’s level and re-teach skills a student misses, so the practice shifts as the child improves.
To keep kids coming back, SummerSharp leans on game-style rewards — points, daily streaks, and badges to unlock. A read-aloud feature voices questions for early readers, and the app is designed to work offline, which can help on road trips or anywhere the connection is spotty.
- Adaptive math, reading, and science practice tagged to Florida B.E.S.T. standards
- Points, streaks, and badges to keep kids engaged
- Read-aloud questions for early and emerging readers
- Parent dashboard showing progress by subject, skill, and grade-level standard
- Adjustable time goals with email updates when goals are met or slipping
- Ad-free with username-and-PIN logins — no child email required
- Works offline
For parents, a dashboard tracks progress by subject, skill, and individual standard. Families can also set healthy time goals — choosing how many days a week and minutes a day they want their child practicing — and receive email updates when those goals are met or start slipping.
On the safety side, the company says children sign in with a username and PIN rather than an email address, and that the app runs without ads or third-party tracking.
Why it matters locally
Educators have long pointed to the so-called “summer slide,” the tendency for students to lose some academic ground during the long break. For Wesley Chapel families looking to keep skills fresh without turning summer into a second school year, a few minutes of daily practice is one approach to staying ready for the fall.
Pricing and how to start
