The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced an upcoming project to resurface and enhance State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel. This project spans from SR 581/Bruce B. Downs Boulevard to east of Curley Road. Residents may have already observed preliminary work in front of the Wesley Chapel Walmart.
The planned improvements include minor drainage modifications, updates to traffic signals, new signage and pavement markings, and a comprehensive corridor lighting analysis. These enhancements aim to improve the overall safety and functionality of this busy roadway.
Currently, the project is in the design phase, with construction expected to begin in 2026. The construction phase is anticipated to take just over a year to complete.
