Pasco County recommends denying Apartment Complex plans in Seven Oaks

WESLEY CHAPEL - Pasco County’s planning staff and Pasco County's planning commission have each recommended denial of a request to modify the master plan for the Seven Oaks development in Wesley Chapel.

Pasco planning staff members recommended denial of the application based on county growth guidelines that favor preserving sites that have been designated for employment-generating purposes such as retail and office spaces. The proposal to convert 86,000 square feet of retail and office space to a 320-unit apartment complex would also violate public expectations for the site and stress usage of parks, libraries and utilities, the staff concluded. The land is currently owned by Walmart and "DD/SR 56 LLC"

The 10-acre plot of land is located just east of Ancient Oaks Boulevard and north of State Road 56. Adjacent to the Sam’s Club. The parcel has remained vacant for years despite the Seven Oaks community being completely built out.

Planning commissioners agreed, voting last week to recommend denial to the County Commission, which is likely to hear the application in the coming weeks.
