Intersection at State Road 54 and Bruce B Downs to be Redesigned and Blocked

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – Many of you share frustration with the dangerous intersections just south of State Road 54 on Bruce B Downs Blvd. People darting across multiple lanes to go from the Publix Plaza to the Village Market shopping center.

Most Wesley Chapel residents that have contacted us believe the median needs to be blocked completely so that cars can not cut across Bruce B. Downs.

Map of the new intersection after median redesign and new stoplight are installed at Eagleston Blvd. A u-turn only lane will be installed at the new stoplight for those leaving Village Lake Shopping Center seeking to go north on Bruce B Downs.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) agrees and is laying out its plans to do that plus it wants to add a light and designated u-turn lane at Eagleston blvd.

FDOT says the work will likely begin in 2022.
