UPDATE: The Pasco County Sheriff's Office confirmed this report via their official social media and stated: "PSO responded to a suspicious person call in the area of Cypress Ridge Blvd., area of Wesley Chapel on July 25. Around 9:35 p.m., in which an individual was walking around reported to have a firearm. Upon arrival deputies located the individual and determined the firearm was a BB gun. There's no public safety threat and no additional information is available at this time."
Law enforcement responded to the area near the AdventHealth Center Ice sports complex in Wesley Chapel after witnesses described a man armed with a rifle near a local hotel, according to reports circulating on social media.
What is known so far
Law enforcement has since left the area.
The original reports involved a man said to be armed with a rifle walking in the street.
Photos shared on social media appeared to show Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputies on scene at local hotel near the Ice Rink facility.
The Advent Health Center Ice Facility was closed at the time of this report.
