You may recall that the FDOT has been working on a proposed interstate exit at Overpass Road and Interstate 75 in Wesley Chapel. This would likely reduce congestion at State Road 54 and 56 exits during rush hour.
In an announcement last week Governor Rick Scott decided to veto this project’s $15,000,000 of funding out of the budget. He also cut several other local project budgets in the Tampa Bay Area. He cut $1.2 million for the Florida Institute of Oceanography at the University of South Florida, a $1 million water transportation project for Forward Pinellas and a $1 million expansion of Ruth Eckerd Hall, $4.3 million for a human decomposition lab at the Thomas Varnadoe Forensic Center a tthe Pasco Sheriff’s Office complex in Land O Lakes and other, smaller projects for a combined total of $22 million.
