TBO – WESLEY CHAPEL — A 28-year-old Wesley Chapel man is accused of trying to sell a gun stolen from a marked Tampa Police Department patrol vehicle in April, a Pasco Sheriff’s Office report said.
Ali Muwanga Kiberu, of 4951 Whistling Pines Court, Wesley Chapel, was charged with burglary of a police vehicle after he attempted to sell the gun to an undercover detective, the report said.
Also taken from the police car between April 18-24 were three sets of handcuffs, a badge and a Global Positioning System, the report said. The undercover deal included two sets of handcuffs and a GPS, the sheriff’s office said.
Kiberu, a Uganda native, was arrested at the Land O’ Lakes Jail, where he was being held on charges related to selling and possession of marijuana, armed burglary and dealing in stolen property, jail records show. He was being held at the jail Tuesday with bail at $225,000.
