Sand Pine Elementary seeks new Principal

WESLEY CHAPEL — Sand Pine Elementary School needs a new leader, as superintendent Kurt Browning has promoted principal Todd Cluff to head the district’s northwest education learning community.

“He is just a beautiful fit into the team, his beliefs, his philosophy,” assistant superintendent Amelia Larson said. “We are very lucky to have him. … I could not be more pleased.”

Cluff, Sand Pine’s principal since 2010, initially did not contemplate seeking any of the newly created executive director positions guiding the four school regions. He already served a stint in the district’s professional development office, and chose to return to schools.

“I love my family here,” he said of Sand Pine. “I love the work I am doing.”

But he said the district’s plan to have the regional directors work with principals to direct needed resources to teachers and classrooms fit with his efforts at the school level. That knowledge motivated Cluff to reconsider the impact he can have on the district.

The ad for the Sand Pine principal post is to go up today for three days. Assistant principal Karyn Kinzie has said she will apply.
