If the project keeps on schedule, construction should be complete by summer 2021.
Wesley Chapel District Park already includes facilities for soccer, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, football and tennis. The park on Boyette Road also has playground equipment, access to fishing, a fitness trail, picnic areas, a pavilion, rest rooms and open space.
With Florida’s summer heat and frequent storms, having an indoor space for sporting activities makes sense for both comfort and safety, Commisioner Mike Moore said.
He predicted that the gym will be a huge success with the full spectrum of park users. Besides accommodating youth and adult sports, the gymnasium will provide indoor space for crafting and other activities and for community meetings.
