Two Wesley Chapel Teens lead Sheriff’s Office on pursuit and K9 Track in Stolen Vehicle
WESLEY CHAPEL – According to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, K9 Corporal Tellier was driving on State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel near Saddlebrook when he noticed a stolen car driving eastbound without its lights on. He attempted to pull over the vehicle but it did not stop and fled onto Smith Road near the entrance to Ashley Pines community of Wesley Chapel. According to the Sheriff’s Office, immediately after turning, the vehicle went off the road and into a marshy area and crashed.
A video of the chase is below. In the video you can see Sheriff’s Office K9 tracking the two suspects who turned out to be local teens from Palm Cove according to local facebook groups. Police were on scene in the community the next day collecting video of the teens burglarizing vehicles in the community overnight.
“It is critical to note that in the stolen vehicle featured in this video, two stolen firearms were also found,” the sheriff’s office said.
The 16-year-old driver was arrested for vehicle theft, fleeing to elude, resisting without violence and carrying a concealed firearm.
The 15-year-old passenger was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, armed auto burglary and resisting arrest without violence.
