Tesla ‘Supercharging’ Station coming to Wesley Chapel
WESLEY CHAPEL – Owner’s of the popular Tesla brand electric vehicles will have one more place to charge up. Although most users charge at home, travelers or those looking for a quick boost can soon visit the Wawa at the intersection of State Road 56 and Wesley Chapel Blvd (SR54).
The Wawa location is undergoing construction to soon host as many as 10 charging stalls. The first of its kind in Pasco County. Tesla owner’s, some of whom enjoy free charging at such locations, will be able to fully charge their Tesla vehicles in just a few minutes using the new “version 3 super chargers”.
According to a statement from Tesla about the new system, “V3 is a completely new architecture for Supercharging. A new 1MW power cabinet with a similar design to our utility-scale products supports peak rates of up to 250kW per car. At this rate, a Model 3 Long Range operating at peak efficiency can recover up to 75 miles of charge in 5 minutes and charge at rates of up to 1,000 miles per hour… V3 Supercharging will ultimately cut the amount of time customers spend charging by an average of 50%, as modeled on our fleet data.”
The station is currently under construction and expected to be complete by May.
