Wesley Chapel Trick or Treat Guide 2014

Trick or Treat Tips for Wesley Chapel, Florida residents

  • What time is appropriate to Trick-or-Treat? When Halloween falls on a Friday as it does this year, a good time to go out is between 6:30PM and  8:30- 9:00 p.m. Trick or Treating after 9pm is usually considered inappropriate.
  • What age group is appropriate to Trick-or-Treat? Generally kids under 14 years of age are considered of the appropriate age.
  • Over 16 years of age? Keep in mind the laws!  In Florida, it is illegal to wear a mask in public if you 16 years old or over.  (Florida Statutes 876.12, 876.13, &  876.12.)
  • If the porch light is off, keep walking. Do not walk up to a door that is not lit and if the light is on but no one answers the door after a ring, continue on your trick or treat trek. Not everyone participates, and you should respect their decision.
  • Be considerate of your neighbors flowerbeds and decorative planters. Stay off and away from anything that can bend, break or get ruined. Nothing changes the festive mood faster than damaging someone’s property.
  • Carry a flashlight, a cell phone, wear reflective clothing. Each year there are accidents involving children and adults who were out and about in all black or dark clothing.
  • Use flexible props.Try to avoid costumes that have weapons as accessories. But if your child’s costume won’t be complete without a weapon, make sure it is rubber or plastic. Fake guns are a bad idea. Choose a prop that won’t cause injury to your child or their friends.

Wesley Chapel Baseball Complex meets $23 million dollar financing deadline

WESLEY CHAPEL (via suncoastnews.com) — Get your peanuts and Cracker Jacks. Break in your mitt. In two years, Pasco County could be home to the largest year-round youth baseball complex in the world.

With minutes to spare before a midnight deadline, Blue Marble founder James Talton and former Major League Baseball star Gary Sheffield came through with a financing plan for the $23 million needed for the county to release $11 million in tourist tax revenue it has pledged to help build the complex.

The game of baseball doesn’t have a clock — but this deal most definitely had an expiration date.

“To put this in terms of a baseball analogy, this came down to the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded with two outs,” Talton said. “I think we have hit a home run that wins the game for all of us, the county and the developer.”

Talton’s proposal for the complex, which would be northeast of the Shops at Wiregrass retail center, involves a two-pronged financing strategy.
